Experimental and Numerical Study of Ship Resistance on the Combination of Traditional Nusantara Fishing Vessel Hull Forms

Abstract
Indonesia had many types of fishing boats in the past. However, research on ship design innovation using local wisdom from ship designs owned by Indonesia has never existed. Moreover, research on numerical and experimental comparisons of these innovative designs also does not exist. Ship design using wisdom is called Nusantara ship. This research uses a combination of the hull of the Nusantara ship type Phinisi and Lancang Kuning type. This research aims to find an innovative design for a combination of fishing boats with the smallest ship resistance. The numerical method uses Maxsurf software, while the experimental method uses ship model experiments in the Towing Tank. The results show that the wave resistance obtained from the experimental results is expected to be better than the wave resistance of fishing boats, which are currently widely used by fishermen in the Pantura area of East Java. Then, the difference for resistance in the experimental and simulation methods is 0.45-43% at various speeds.
